The Fly Car Model A122 is a popular analog slotcar on a scale of 1:32. It is a detailed replica of the Chevrolet Corvette C5-R (version #64), enrolled by Corvette Racing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2000.
Real-World Background
Riders: Andy Pilgrim (USA), Kelly Collins (USA) and Franck Fréon (F).
Performance: The car finished in a handsome 10th place overall during this legendary race and achieved 3rd place in the GTS class.
Livery: The car is featured in the well-known yellow-and-white Corvette Racing color scheme with official Goodwrench/GMA sponsorship.
Technical Specifications of the Model
This model is designed to run directly on traditional analog tracks, including systems from Scalextric, Carrera Evolution and Ninco.
Drive: Inline setup with a front-mounted short-can motor (front motor).
Engine power: Approximately 18,000 RPM.
Gear ratio: 9-tooth pinion and 27-tooth crown gear (spur gear).
Chassis & Grip: Equipped with rubber bands and a strong neodymium magnet for extra handling.
Digital conversion: Not standard prepared for digitization, but manual to build with, for example, a Carrera or Scalextric decoder.
Known Point of Attention for Riders
If you are planning to race with these older Fly models, keep in mind that the original plastic motorcycle ride (pinion) due to old age may suffer from hairline cracks. For collectors in a display case, this is not a problem, but active riders often replace it directly with a brass or nylon for better durability
