The real car
The real car behind this slotcar model is a special appearance from the endurance racing. It concerns the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 with starting number 3 of the renowned German racing team Black Falcon, who competed in the VLN championship at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2011.

Here's the story and the technique behind the real racer:

The "Serengeti" Connection
The unique and striking livery (the stickering) of the car was sponsored by Serengeti Premium Lager, one of the best-known beer brands from Tanzania. The car was driven during the VLN races in 2011 by an international driver's rio: British/Tanzanian driver Vimal Mehta and Irish brothers Sean Paul Breslin and Sean Patrick Breslin.

Technical Specifications of the Real SLS AMG GT3
The SLS AMG GT3 was the first official "Customer Racing" circuit sample developed entirely by Mercedes-AMG (in collaboration with HWA) for the international GT3 regulations.

The Engine: Under the giant bonnet was a brutal, atmospheric 6.3-liter V8 (M159). Depending on the Restrictors that the FIA prescribed to equalize the cars (Balance of Performance), this block delivered between 540 hp and 600 hp.

Transmission: Unlike the street car (which had a 7-speed double clutch), the GT3 version was given a hardcore 6-stage sequential racing gearbox operated with flippers at the wheel.

Gullwing doors: Like the street version, the race car retained the iconic wing doors. This created a unique challenge when racing: if the car were to crash and land on its roof, the doors could not open. Therefore, the car was equipped with explosive bolts in the hinges, so that the doors could be blown out in their entirety in emergencies.
Lightweight: By completely stripping the interior and using carbon fibre (carbon) frequently, the car weighed only 1,330 kg (over 400 kg lighter than the street version).

The Heritage of Black Falcon
Black Falcon was one of the leading teams at the Nürburgring with the SLS AMG GT3. While this particular #3 "Serengeti" car was a unique crowd favourite because of its exotic sponsor, the team with their other SLS chassis experienced unprecedented successes. For example, Black Falcon won the legendary 24 Hours of the Nürburgring in 2013, which marked the first-ever overall victory for Mercedes-Benz in that race
